Kraft 2.0
Next generation of the open-source business tool on Linux

After nearly two years of development, Kraft 2.0 introduces a modernized core, updated foundations like Qt6 and KDE Frameworks, and a seamless migration path from Kraft 1.x — all designed to make Kraft faster, easier and future-proof.
🚀 Easier Installation
The redesigned AppImage bundles everything in a single file and now includes an integrated address book that reads contacts from a local directory. This can be used through KAddressbook but also allows flexible syncing, for example via tools like vdirsyncer.
➡️ Kraft AppImage: simple, complete, ready to use.
🔒 Document Life Cycle
Kraft now supports a legally compliant document life cycle:
- Draft documents can be edited freely and are marked as DRAFT.
- Finalized documents receive a document number and become immutable. A new State column makes statuses immediately visible.
➡️ Formally correct docs, simple and secure
🖨️ Better PDF Output
WeasyPrint is now the default PDF generator, offering cleaner rendering and easier-to-customize templates using HTML/CSS.
Attention: Older custom templates based on ReportLab must be manually updated to the new format.
➡️ Modern documents in clean PDF format
☁️ Built for the Private Cloud
Kraft stays a stable and standard conform desktop application but now offers optional document sync, easier backups and cloud-ready storage — always under your control via solutions like OpenCloud or Nextcloud.
This prepares Kraft for upcoming features like multi-user, multi-workstation setups.
➡️ Desktop-comfort, combined with private cloud flexibility
Migration Made Simple
Upgrading is safe and automatic. Kraft 2.0 converts documents into individual XML files without modifying your existing database. If anything goes wrong, you can simply go back to Kraft 1.x again.
➡️ Quick, secure and automatic migration from Kraft 1.1
